Mission

Firefly Theatre Works is a summer program designed to give kids the unique opportunity to hone their performing abilities through the experience of crafting the very first performances of a brand new musical. Students refine their singing, develop characters from scratch, and dance in choreographed music numbers, culminating in various levels of performance from recitals to a full fledged musical production. If cast, some students will have the honor of having their names published as the original cast.

Because a new musical is written every summer, the program is divided into two sessions which run concurrently. Auditions are held to place students into roles in the musical (Session B), while others are invited to participate in the recital program (Session A) to continue to develop their strengths, and to acknowledge what they need to do to improve.

Students from both sessions mix it up for the first part of the day, and then Session B students remain for rehearsal in the afternoon. Session A ends midway through the program, after they hold their recital. Session B continues to rehearse and design their production for a full fledged performance with lighting, sound, and live music.
